P. A. Logue
In tribute to Patricia Ann Logue (VR, January 9, 2010, vol 166, p 56 ), Graeme Cochrane, on behalf of colleagues at Animal Health and others, writes: Pat Logue (née Marshall) was born in Glasgow on July 29, 1951, and grew up in Milngavie on the outskirts of Glasgow. She qualified as a vet from Glasgow university in July 1974. She met her husband David while she was at university, and they married in December 1974. Pat worked at Glasgow vet school as a houseman for two years and then, in 1976, moved into full-time private practice with Bruce Ogilvie in Boston Spa. Pat and David then moved to the New Forest in 1980, where she worked part-time until 1982. Their son Robert was born during the time there. The family then moved back to Ayr in 1982, and their daughters, Kate and Shona, were born in Ayr. In 1987 the family moved to Dumfries, and Pat worked on and off as a Temporary Veterinary Inspector (TVI) for the Dumfries division of the State Veterinary Service (SVS). The family moved back to Ayr in 1990 as David's career with the Scottish Agricultural College progressed, and Pat worked as a TVI for the Ayr SVS division before becoming a full-time permanent Veterinary Officer in Ayr from July 1996.
Pat was also very active in the Ayrshire BVA division, and held several posts on the local committee over a period of several years. She committed a lot of time and energy to this work, and befriended and helped many of the young vets moving into the area.
Pat seemed to have a hugely enjoyable and fulfilling life as she and David raised their family. She was extremely sociable and outgoing, and liked nothing better than going on a skiing holiday with David and the children and some of their huge range of friends.
She was extremely knowledgeable and competent at work, taking a very practical, calm and down-to-earth approach to dealing with veterinary issues. She was also very good at dealing with people, understanding their problems and empathising with them - in the...
