An 81-year-old woman developed QT syndrome and Torsade de Pointes secondary to hypokalaemia during treatment with citalopram and zopiclone [routes not stated].
The woman, who had a history of chronic non infective diarrhoea from 3 years, was hospitalised following recurrent falls, which were associated with brief periods of loss of consciousness. She was receiving once daily dosage of citalopram and zopiclone at a dose of 10mg and 7.5mg respectively. Concomitantly, she was receiving various other drugs.
