A 26-year-old man developed fulminant C. difficile colitis with toxic megacolon following administration of ciprofloxacin [duration of treatment to reaction onsets and route not stated].
The man, who had a history of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, was admitted to the hospital with a 4-day history of profuse watery diarrhoea, abdominal pain and low-grade fever. These symptoms developed after he received ciprofloxacin 500mg twice daily for urinary tract infection. On admission, he showed distended abdomen with hypoactive bowel sounds. The C.
