Can you lose weight with hypnosis?

Does hypnosis work, or doesn't it? It may be possible that in the hands of a qualified health professional, hypnosis can give help in psychological issues, but we've seen no evidence of any successful weight loss programs through hypnosis.

Here's one hypnosis scheme that clearly doesn't work.

The Federal Trade Commission recently obtained a cease and desist agreement from Ronald B. Gorayeb and his two New Jersey corporations, Gorayeb Seminars and Gorayeb Learning Systems, for weight loss and quitting smoking seminars.

Gorayeb was advertising the seminars for $39.99 each, claiming you could lose weight quickly, safely, without hunger, without dieting, without willpower, in one two-hour session.
