Dr. Holly Barker has a laudable and transparent agenda in Bravo for the Marshallese. She seeks to demonstrate that the compensation thus far received by the Marshallese people as a result of the atomic testing conducted by the United States government has been grossly inadequate. To this end, her absorbing text can be split into three rough topical sections.
She begins with the history, where it is clear that at the very least, the Marshallese were imperiled by the careless application of safeguards designed to protect their safety. At worst, they were deliberately targeted unconsenting subjects of atomic testing. There are four atolls that the US government considers to have been impacted by atomic testing.
