Abstract

The fifth section, on problems caused by heart disease, has four well-written chapters on congestive heart failure, hypoxe ia, central nervous system sequelae, and pulmonary hypertension. The eighth section, on acquired heart disease, provides general information in a format consisting of clinical correlations, including physical findings, laboratory data, electrocardiography, chest x-ray findings, echocardiography, and cardiac catheterization, followed by clinical management and expected course.
