"Conundrum": a problem having no conjectural answer. Every decision that professional school counselors make has consequences, and no one solution is right for any two students. School Counseling Principles: Ethics and Law is about the challenges that school counselors face, the decisions they have to make, and the standards and laws by which those decisions should be made. Carolyn Stone does a great job addressing many of the legal and ethical issues that school counselors encounter on a daily basis. Ethical standards and codes of the counseling profession are what help professional school counselors become and continue to be ethical practitioners. There are no concrete answers when it comes to ethical dilemmas. The focus of this book is to provide school counselors with strategies to help them address the daily ethical dilemmas they encounter. This book is a tool that can be used to help school counselors-in-training as well as practitioners understand the ethical and legal obligations that school counselors have, and the author does this in part by illustrating how school counselors have responded to dilemmas they have encountered.
