Abstract

Communication skills are essential for accounting professionals. Published statements by main stakeholders, as well as the results of research support this assertion. As a consequence, many degrees are including the development of communication skills as learning objectives. Communication apprehension (CA) could act as a main constraint for the development of these skills. Given previous research highlighted that accounting students tend to present higher level of CA than students enrolled in other areas, the main aim of the present paper is to analyze the profiles of CA and communication self-efficacy in the new degrees, recently implemented in Spain in the accounting, finance, business and economy areas.
