Job Announcement
The Department of Government and Justice Studies at Appalachian State University invites applications for die position of Director of the Master of Public Administration program beginning no later than July 2009. Rank is open. We seek a dynamic, senior faculty member with practical experience in local or state government administration and a record of scholarship in public administration. The successful candidate will teach in the core curriculum, maintain an active research agenda, and direct the Master of Public Administration program. Responsibilities also include student advisement, curriculum development, instruction at off-campus sites as needed, participation in service activities, and the potential for on-line instruction. We are especially interested in candidates who are eager to work with local governments in North Carolina.
The Master of Public Administration program is NASPAA-accredited and has over 80 students who specialize primarily in local government administration. The Department of Government and Justice Studies has over thirty tenure track faculty, graduate and undergraduate degree programs in political science, public administration and criminal justice, and over 700 students.
Appalachian State University is a member institution of the sixteen-campus University of North Carolina System. Located in Boone, North Carolina, the University has approximately 15,000 students, primarily in bachelors and masters programs in both liberal arts and applied fields.
