Introduction
Adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as one of the most embraced trends among hiring professionals in 2018. Recruiting the best talent and managing the diversity in the workforce has been the formidable challenge. In the new age with the power of AI, the recruitment industry is empowering the employers to meet the recruitment challenges. AI is the new building block in the recruitment industry. With AI recruiters can process volumes of data to find suitable candidates. AI can scan social media data to assess the candidate’s values, beliefs and attitudes. With AI recruiters are getting clues on personality traits and suitability beyond the traditional resumes. AI is unbiased and screens resume fairly by giving equal weight to all candidates.
AI is disrupting the recruitment industry and is replacing repetitive tasks that were traditionally performed by human recruiters. AI is making some processes obsolete, as recruiters are happy to delegate the mundane, repetitive tasks to AI-powered systems. AI is changing the roles that the recruiters play and is leading to more thoughtful hiring. With AI taking care of boring and repetitive tasks, recruiters now have more time to be creative and can focus on strategic issues. Recruiters now have more time for long-term planning and building personal relationships with new hires. AI is good at identifying talent but still the activities like rapport building, assessment of cultural fit and negotiation needs to be done by humans who now act as talent advisors. AI is speeding up the hiring process. AI is making the relationship between man and machine more productive. Human as recruiters are still needed to understand, interpret and quiz the candidates for the right mix of empathy and emotions.
