An 11-year-old boy experienced worsening of rash during treatment with amoxicillin for rash treated as staphylococcal infection. Additionally, he developed rebound effect in the form of worsening of rash following completion of prednisone therapy for rash and developed Cushingoid appearance, weight gain, striae, and hypertension during treatment with methylprednisolone and prednisone for pleural effusion [not all routes, dosages and outcomes stated; durations of treatments to reactions onset not stated].
The previously healthy boy presented in February 2021 to emergency centre (EC) with 5 months of a recurrent rash among other manifestations. The rash was attributed to roseola in prior months was then considered to be a staphylococcal infection and he was started on amoxicillin and mupirocin.
