CHANNEL Nine last night sacrificed the first victim of the year's
cut-throat ratings season after being beaten for the second successive week by the rival Seven network.
Executives pulled the plug on dare devil show Fear Factor after just two episodes, admitting it had "not lived up to expectations".
The announcement came after Nine proprietor Kerry Packer summoned staff to explain the network's newfound struggle for ratings last week.
Fear Factor came fourth in its 7.30pm Tuesday time slot -- beaten by both commercial rivals. Even the ABC's 7.30 Report had a higher average audience.
