MARRIOTT LOVES New York - and, according to City Hall, the feeling is mutual.
The Bethesda, Md.-based hotel company unveiled plans last week to nearly double the number of properties it operates across the city by 2013. It intends to open 13 new budget hotels in Manhattan to lodge some of the increasing numbers of tourists expected to visit the Big Apple in coming years.
Once completed, the hotels will add 2,900 rooms to Marriott's local inventory, a company official told a group of securities analysts at the Marriott Marquis property in Times Square last week....
