One impressive women's basketball streak was broken last weekend at North Dakota State, while another continues at St. Thomas as the Tommies won their 25th straight and could be host to the NCAA Division III Final Four if they survive the rugged Great Lakes Sectional in Defiance, Ohio.
North Dakota State, No. 1 in Division II, had its winning streak snapped at 45 when arch-rival North Dakota scored the last 12 points and upset the Bison 73-66.
Tiffany Pudenz scored 32 points for the Sioux, and Kelly Britz, who scored 11, held North Central Conference scoring champion Kasey Morlock to nine - the first time in 59 games she failed to reach double figures. Morlock had broken the NCC career scoring record with a 14-point performance against UND in a 64-61 victory in the last game of the regular season.
St. Thomas' Great Lakes Sectional appears to be the toughest in Division III, with No. 1 Defiance at 27-0 and No. 2 St. Thomas at 26-1. The Tommies play Friday...
