NCAA VOLLEYBALL
For the first time since 1990, there will be a new national champion in Division III volleyball. Juniata College (Pa.) finally broke the spell of Washington University, defeating the Bears 15-13, 15-13, 15-4 in the national semifinals Friday night.
Washington U. had won the past six Division III championships and seven of the past eight crowns before the Eagles earned their first postseason win over the Bears in six tries.
The Eagles (43-1) advanced to today's championship match against Central College (Iowa) or host UC San Diego.
