Has BET's Emerge submerged?
There is good news and bad news from the bailiwick of media mogul Bob Johnson. The good news is that Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television, has shelled out $141 million to purchase an airline company, to be called DC Air. The bad news is that Emerge magazine, which is part of his empire, has been placed on "hiatus," another way of saying it has submerged.
Among the readers and writers who rely on Emerge - and it had no rival for cutting edge news for and about the Black community - the news that the 10-year-old monthly, with a circulation listed at 170,000 (far below the millions who pick up Essence and Ebony each month) will no longer be available in...
