THE father of one of five victims bludgeoned to death in 2003 said he had forgiven the man who brutally murdered his son.
Taraiasi Valave, the father of Vonivate Kubu, a 26-year-old minibus driver, who was beaten to death by Waisale Waqanivalu on December 8, 2003, said now that justice had been served, he was concerned about what the accused's wife and six-year-old daughter would do to survive.
On March 6, 2003, Waqanivalu, 26, originally of Naisisili in the Yasawas, killed Sarita Devi in Waimalika, Nadi, by beating her repeatedly on the head with a rock.
Waqanivalu also attacked her boyfriend, Mohammed Iliaz, knocking him unconscious.
Nine months later, on December 8, Waqanivalu attacked and killed Mr Kubu, his girlfriend Saraseini Batiratu, 23, Adrian Jotish Lal, 21, and Eleni McGoon, 20, in Wavuwavu, Ba.
Justice Kishor Govind said Waqanivalu had committed the most gruesome and brutal killings he ever came across.
He handed Waqanivalu five life sentences for the murder counts, which will be served...
