YOU know your career is looking up when the experienced and much- lauded star of the show in which you co-star describes you in these terms: "She's super-spectacular, she's young and gifted and unique. I think she has a shot to be a huge, big star. She's easy to work with, she's as sweet as they come and she's damn good".
Rae Dawn Chong (The Colour Purple, Commando), who plays hospital psychiatrist Peggy Fowler in Mysterious Ways (Ten, Thursday 9.30pm), obviously likes co-star Alisen Down. And rightly so.
The softly spoken, Canadian-born Down is flattered by Chong's kind words, but would never let them go to her head.
Instead, Down believes she is fortunate to have landed the role of Miranda, the deadpan assistant to anthropology professor Declan Dunn (Adrian Pasdar), on such a fascinating series.
"Adrian and Rae Dawn are two of the most wonderful people I have ever met," Down says.
"They are incredibly supportive, they are always very patient and so giving, they're funny, they're goofy and they're incredibly understanding. It's such a blessing to work with such amazing people."
