MELBOURNE Knights moved into calculations for the NSL title yesterday after signing Kresimir Marusic -- statistically the good- luck charm of the competition.
Marusic fell out with long-time friend and coach Branko Culina at Sydney United and gained a quick release as a free agent after United fell behind by three weeks in wages.
The midfielder flew to Melbourne yesterday and signed with the Knights for the rest of the season, promising to help the club to "win something".
Marusic qualifies as the best import brought to Australia in the past 10 years -- within eight games of being brought from Croatia in 1995, he helped the Knights to an NSL title.
