Those who question the celtic mindedness of some of Celtic Connections' star turns may want to sit down, hands firmly grasping the chair arms. Because I have a left-field suggestion for inclusion.
Alas, it's also impossible because Spike Jones long ago demobbed his City Slickers. But you could hear an ancestor of Jones's unfortunate racing uncertainty, Beedlebum, in Jock Duncan's infamous, virtual reality recitation of the Hogmanay Plooin' Match.
It was all there: bank managers losing interest (ouch), the septuagenarian Jock loupin' like a five-year-old back on stage after "ploughing" the auditorium, and Doric as thick as sharn on a shed floor.
