Port Wellington unveiled a name change today as it embarks on an aggressive strategy to position itself as one of the leading ports in the new millennium.
Port Wellington chief executive Ken Harris said the name change - to CentrePort - would reflect that the port was the most centrally positioned of all New Zealand ports, and served a wide geographical region.
"We are in the ideal position to transport cargo to the South Island and to most parts of the North Island. We're aiming to capitalise on that."
