Abstract
A presente dissertação tem como objectivo a definição das coordenadas estéticas e ideológicas das metabiografias, no quadro referencial do Pós-Modernismo. Para o cumprimento deste princípio norteador, dedicaremos uma atenção particular aos pontos nucleares de correlação com a metahistoriografia e com a história alternativa, o que nos levará a adoptar uma perspectiva comparatista na análise dos três discursos metanarrativos.
Assim, sustentando a investigação em The Last Testament of Oscar Wilde e The Lambs of London, de Peter Ackroyd, na trilogia Boa Noite, Senhor Soares, O Fotógrafo e a Rapariga e Retrato de Rapaz, de Mário Cláudio e em A Man of Parts,de David Lodge, é nossa intenção equacionar os fundamentos epistemológicos da construção do romance metabiográfico, com vista a uma definição do seu código epigenético, determinante para a reavaliação do registo categorial no campo da metaficção.
Cativos desta proposição, partiremos de um escopo alargado de análise das linguagens estéticas do Pós-Modernismo, em particular do fundamento estruturante da sociedade ocidental e da pertinência da promessa cada vez mais premente de instauração de uma nova dominante cultural, para posteriormente estreitarmos a análise aos domínios da metahistoriografia, da metabiografia e da história alternativa, com o propósito de examinar a fluidez genológica da metaficção.
Neste contexto, os romances em investigação revestem-se de extrema importância para a observação das nuances simbólicas e subversivas, operadoras de aproximações ou de distanciamentos do discurso metabiográfico em relação aos outros dois registos metaficcionais. A presente dissertação trata, em suma, de negociar a inscrição do romance metabiográfico no campo genológico da metahistoriografia, da história alternativa ou, caso se revele suficientemente singular, numa outra subcategoria inaugural.
