Cette étude retrace et analyse les origines, les fondements et l'évolution du processus de réclamation des Hurons de Lorette pour la seigneurie de Sillery, entre 1760 et 1888. Cette seigneurie se situe dans le plus grand ensemble des biens des Jésuites. L'opération revendicatrice a impliqué nombre d'acteurs historiques dont l'Ordre des Jésuites, les gouvernements impérial et colonial britanniques ainsi que le gouvernement fédéral canadien. This study traces and analyzes the origins, foundations and evolution of the process of claiming the Hurons of Lorette for the lordship of Sillery, between 1760 and 1888. This lordship is located in the largest group of Jesuit property. The vindictive operation involved a number of historical actors including the Jesuit Order, the British imperial and colonial governments as well as the Canadian federal government. All resisted the pressures exerted by the Huron community, whether out of interest, covetousness or an opposing political will doctrinally supported by the law. The logic of the Huron alliance was systematically opposed to the colonial logic of civilization of the savages, which caused a slide towards insignificance. The Huron enterprise was the only one to have ended in failure. All other claimants to the Jesuits' rich land heritage were ultimately compensated in some way.
