Kristin Folkl added another award to her growing portfolio when she was named to the Post-Dispatch All-Metro volleyball team.
Folkl, who led St. Joseph's Academy to four Missouri Class 4A high school titles, was a unanimous choice for the team along with teammate Carrie Walker.
Area coaches chose the team.

Volleyball Monthly picked her as the National Player of the Year, she was a four-year starter for the Angels, helped author a 94-match unbeaten streak, demolished the national high school record for kills in a career and set a national record for average kills per match at 14.2.
Folkl, who has signed a letter of intent to attend Stanford on a basketball scholarship (she also will play volleyball), recorded 1,819 kills in her career. She broke the mark of 1,120 set by Belleville West's Marnie Triefenbach, who will be Folkl's teammate next season.
"Somebody like Kristin comes along once ever," coach Karen Elmore said. "She was never a problem at all. Always on time, always worked hard, did everything she was asked to do.
"The biggest challenge for me was challenging her game. We were able to do more advanced things with Kristin. I really kept on her about her leadership qualities, which came natural to her anyway. I haven't found a fault."

"She played the role of second fiddle better than anyone I've ever seen," Elmore said. "Kristin was her idol. Jealousy would have never crossed Carrie's mind."
