Abstract
Structural analogies with commercially established classes of pigments, backed up by fact that DPP is described as a highly insoluble, brilliant red crystalline compound melting beyond 35 0C, prompted an investigation of its performance as a pigment.
In this study, aryl-derivatives of 2,5-dihydropyrrolo[3,4-c] pyrrole-1,4-dions which have been developed to industrially important red high performance pigments and being fluorescence properties have been synthesized.
Synthesized 2,5-dihydropyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-dions derivatives are 3,6-diphenyl-2,5-dihydropyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-dione (DPP-1), 3,6-bis(3-tolyl)-2,5-dihydropyrro[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-dione (DPP-2), 3,6-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-2,5-dihydropyrro[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-dione (DPP-3). Synthesized 2,5-dihydropyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-diones derivatives were identified by using IR, UV-vis and 1H NMR spectroscopic techniques.
