Abstract
Background :Tamra Sindoora is one of the unique Rasa Yoga, with Parada, Gandhaka & Tamra prepared by Kupi paka method having indications in Apasmara, Akshepaka, Yakritroga, Amlapitta, etc. It is concerned with diverse enzymatic and immunological pathways. In present study its pharmaceutical processing as per text, various physico-chemical and instrumental analysis along with the evaluation of its anti-convulsant activity on albino rats is carried out.
Objective :To extract Parada from Hingula by Urdhwa Patana method. To do the Shodhana of Gandhaka and Tamra.
To prepare Kajjali for Tamra Sindoora.
To prepare Tamra Sindoora by classical Valukayantra method.
To carryout analytical study of Tamra Sindoora kajjali, Tamra Sindoora and Tamra Sindoora Talastha.
To carry out the anti convulsant activity of Tamra Sindoora on Albino rats by Maximal Electro Shock method.
Methodology: Pharmaceutical Study:Extraction of Parada from Hingula by Urdhwa Patanayantra. Gandhaka Shodhana in Godugdha by subjecting to Kurmaputa by Bhudharayantra method.
Samanya shodhana of Tamra by Nirvapa method in the following mediasTaila, Takra, Gomootra, Aaranala and Kulatha kwatha – 7 times in each media.
Vishesha shodhana of Tamra- Tamrapatra applied with a paste of Saindhavalavana and Nimbuswarasa is subjected to Nirvapa in Kanji for 8 times.
Results: Pharmaceutical :The yield of Parada extracted from Hingula was 58.28%.
Yield of Gandhaka after Shodhana was 89.6 %.
Yield of Tamra after Samanya shodhana was 82.33% and after Vishesha shodhana was 82.99%. The total yield was 68.33%.
Yield of Tamra Sindoora was 39%.
