AFTER A SEVERAL years wait, the city Parks Department plans to breath new life into the algae-plagued Goose Pond in Jamaica Hills beginning later this year.
The two-acre artificial pond, located in Captain Tilly Park, has been suffering from a lack of adequate oxygen since the 1970s. But beginning in September, the city Parks Department plans to begin a $345,000 project to clean up the pond and make it more attractive for nearby residents.
"The pond has indeed suffered," said Parks Commissioner Henry Stern. "Ideally, you should be able to see your reflection in it."
