Several airline managers surveyed for a study on the viability of a cargo jetport in Calverton said recently that comments they made about the interest of their firms were taken out of context and used in a biased manner.
Some said they weren't even aware they were being surveyed. {***The following appeared in the Suffolk edition***Koppelman said he doubted airline officials would have given candid answers if they were formally asked, because of concern that an expression of interest could be used against them in future lease negotiations.***}
Lee Koppelman, head of the Long Island Regional Planning Board, which conducted the study earlier this year, said yesterday, "I think we made some kind of tactical mistake; we may have gotten some of these guys in trouble with their bosses."
