Abstract

In the study of the absolute judgment of temporal intervals we are concerned with the determination of the length of temporal periods which are experienced as long, short, or indifferent. Such intervals may be empty of filled. A continuous stimulus marks the period of time in filled intervals, while tow momentary stimuli bound the period of time in the case of empty intervals. The more primary concern in a study of the absolute judgement of temporal intervals in the determination of the interval or range of intervals at which the subjective judgment of length change from long to short or from short to long. The point at which judgment of long and short are of equal frequency in designated as the indifference point for absolute judgements and the interval at which this occurs is the indifference interval.
