Abstract

This study is a content analysis examining indoor sex workers’ experiences and opinions surrounding health, safety, and interpersonal relationships. Using an online forum from Saafe.info, a U.K based website open to the public, I gathered comments from discussion boards to examine themes across the three main topics. Overall, I found that indoor sex workers are highly aware of the sexual health risk surrounding condom use and other STDs and know how their work affects their mental health. Indoor sex workers prefer working from home where they can have more control over their work but must be aware of their neighbors. They also closely control and manage information about their jobs from their family, friends, and romantic partners. Overall, this study adds to the existing literature surrounding indoor sex workers.
