Abstract
The quick development of energy use around the world and the concern for the shortage of resources has led developed countries to form building regulations, standards, and rankings for low-energy buildings. Many developing countries have also started energy regulation implementation but the process is slow and often either poorly documented or not documented at all. Iraq is one of those developing countries which faces a major problem with energy usage and lack of efficient resources. Iraq would greatly benefit from a set of guidelines or standards that regulate the energy use and environmental performance of buildings; however, currently, there are no such regulatory tools implemented. As a country with harsh climatic conditions which include extreme summers where the temperature can reach as high as 55 °C and cold winters that can reach below zero in some regions, the development and implementation of such regulations is definitely not an easy task.
Nowadays sustainability withinside the production sector is imperative, especially in constructing systems to achieve environmental and monetary benefits. Out of the overall power intake withinside the United States, the development zone alone consumes 35% power Therefore, it's far the want of the hour that this sector ought to transfer closer to sustainability.
An energy review assists with laying out benchmark estimates connected with energy use. This task expects to play out an energy review to accomplish the right equilibrium among social, financial, and natural variables which is the triple main concern of the manageability interaction. In such a manner, the initial move towards supportability is the decrease in current energy utilization. Energy review targets regions for energy productivity improvement.
Along these lines, the information concluded from the energy review will direct further in planning an activity plan for the economic activity of the building. To accomplish supportability objectives, accentuation will be on five plan classifications as Sustainable locales, Water productivity, Energy and Atmosphere, Material and assets, and indoor air quality. When an energy review is achieved, the proprietor can apply for LEED (Leadership in energy and ecological plan) accreditation of the structure. LEED certification is a universally perceived image of maintainability accomplishment. This thesis presents a case study of a building model for the potential energy conservation through analysis and validation of annual energy consumption. The model of the Elementary school building, located in Baghdad, Iraq, was developed in a complex 3D Building Information Model (BIM) based model within Autodesk Revit version 2019, and the energy model was simulated through (cloud-base) Insight 360.
