El Poema En Prosa En España (1940-1990)

Abstract

Uno de los problemas básicos que plantea cualquier estudio literario es el de sus límites cronológicos. En el segmento temporal de cincuenta años que nos ocupa, y en un primer acercamiento, creemos conveniente aceptar y partir de la división en dos etapas: un primer momento abarcaría los primeros treinta años (1940-1970), período casi coincidente con el de “Literatura del franquismo” (1939-1975), salvo en los últimos cinco años que nosotros incluimos en el período siguiente, pues la producción de poemas en prosa en esos años hemos de considerarla de transición: junto a autores de continúan su trayectoria poética, empiezan a darse a conocer otros autores que la inician y tienen más relación con la etapa posterior. Un segundo período abarcaría los últimos veinte años, época caracterizada por la aparición de las abundantes y siempre polémicas antologías y su influencia en la creación de generaciones, escuelas y tendencias. Esta división en dos bloques responde tanto a la aplicación de simples criterios de organización y clasificación asumidos por la mayoría de los críticos e historiadores de la literatura, como, en nuestro caso concreto, a que refleja un cambio de rumbo en la evolución del poema en prosa. Resulta obvio que las fechas son meramente indicativas de situaciones que se gestan o continúan al margen de ellas, y que en ningún caso deben tomarse en sentido estricto. Por esa razón estudiamos la aportación de los autores individual e íntegramente, sin establecer divisiones en su obra aunque ésta no esté incluida totalmente en un mismo período.La extensión y la estructura del trabajo nos obliga a presentarlo en dos volúmenes. El primero acoge el estudio crítico que hemos dividido en seis capítulos. En los dos primeros nos ocupamos de las cuestiones teóricas básicas: situación bibliográfica, presupuestos teóricos y delimitación del objeto de estudio. En el capítulo III recogemos un resumen histórico en el que señalamos los antecedentes, génesis y evolución del poema en prosa en España desde sus orígenes hasta 1940. La magnitud de su obra y la importancia e influencia de Juan Ramón Jiménez en la historia del poema en prosa español exigen que dediquemos al poeta de Moguer un capítulo (IV) exclusivo. En los dos últimos capítulos analizamos individualmente las aportaciones de los autores antologados según la división temporal que hemos establecido. En el capítulo V los que publicaron su obra entre 1940 y 1970, y en el capítulo VI los que lo hicieron en las dos últimas décadas. El volumen II incluye los textos seleccionados de los cincuenta y ocho autores que integran la antología. Los criterios empleados y la ordenación establecida se exponen en la “Nota preliminar”.

One of the basic problems that any literary study raises is that of its chronological limits. In the time segment of fifty years that concerns us, and in a first approach, we believe it convenient to accept and start from the division into two stages: a first moment would cover the first thirty years (1940-1970), a period almost coinciding with that of “Literature of Francoism” (1939-1975), except in the last five years that we include in the following period, since the production of prose poems in those years must be considered transitional: together with authors who continue their poetic trajectory, they begin to make themselves known other authors who initiate it and are more related to the later stage. A second period would cover the last twenty years, a time characterized by the appearance of the abundant and always controversial anthologies and their influence on the creation of generations, schools and trends. This division into two blocks responds both to the application of simple criteria of organization and classification assumed by most critics and historians of literature, and, in our specific case, to reflecting a change of direction in the evolution of the poem in prose. It is obvious that the dates are merely indicative of situations that are brewing or continue outside of them, and that in no case should they be taken in the strict sense. For this reason we study the contribution of the authors individually and in its entirety, without establishing divisions in their work even if it is not fully included in the same period. The length and structure of the work obliges us to present it in two volumes. The first contains the critical study that we have divided into six chapters. In the first two we deal with the basic theoretical questions: bibliographic situation, theoretical assumptions and delimitation of the object of study. In chapter III we collect a historical summary in which we point out the antecedents, genesis and evolution of the prose poem in Spain from its origins to 1940. The magnitude of his work and the importance and influence of Juan Ramón Jiménez in the history of the poem in Spanish prose demand that we dedicate an exclusive chapter (IV) to the poet of Moguer. In the last two chapters we individually analyze the contributions of the anthologized authors according to the temporal division that we have established. In chapter V those who published his work between 1940 and 1970, and in chapter VI those who did so in the last two decades. Volume II includes selected texts from the fifty-eight authors that make up the anthology. The criteria used and the established ordering are set out in the "Preliminary Note".
