Abstract
Rising concerns regarding environmental sustainability invite the question of how ethical consideration may be inspired among the population. A potential avenue for engendering such consideration is through aesthetic appreciation. Nascent feelings of moral sympathy require conceptual support, however. An environmental paradigm bridging the gap between humanity and the biosphere will best motivate the development of ethical concern while avoiding potential pitfalls. The developed account of moral consideration then provides the possibility of approaching more atypical instances of aesthetic experience within natural environments. The experience of acentric perception in nature is one such instance. Acentric perception is facilitated by a developed ethical approach combined with an acutely attentive mode of observation. It is a consummate aesthetic experience in virtue of the intensity of the emotional response that is elicited. Given the ethical foundation required as well as the engagement of the senses, an instance of acentric perception in nature may be considered both sufficiently moral and essentially aesthetic.
