A woman in her 50s [exact age not stated] developed rebound effect in the form worsening of fibrotic pulmonary sarcoidosis following withdrawal of prednisone.
The woman, in December 1964 (at the age of 21-year), visited the respiratory center of a regional hospital for uveitis and bilateral hilar-mediastinal lymphadenopathy. Thereafter, she was diagnosed with sarcoidosis as stage I. In December 1973, granular and reticular opacities were observed in both lungs, and she started receiving prednisone 30mg daily [route not stated]. In 1987, the dose of prednisone was tapered to 5mg daily. In October 1991, she was found to have improvement of reticular and granular opacities.
