The Spectral Response name does not appear on any product, but the Georgia company's work can be found in everything from sophisticated communications equipment used by U.S. soldiers in Iraq to medical devices pumping life-saving medicines into a patient's body.
As Spectral Response president Kevin Melendy explains, "We don't build anything with our name on it, but we manufacture products for a variety of well-known companies, primarily high-end video and satellite communications products. That's the challenge of our business. Instead of building one product continuously, we build lots of products infrequently."
The Gwinnett County company, celebrating its 21st year in 2008, is the 2008 Georgia Manufacturer of the Year in the small manufacturer category.
Founder Chris Lewis, who started the company in his garage, is now CEO and chairman of the board.
