The Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio Foundation is undertaking a 10-year restoration program of the landmarked Robie House (1910) located on the University of Chicago campus. During restoration, the Wright-designed house will remain open for tours. The Foundation is also collaborating with the Chicago Botanic Garden on the exhibition "Frank Lloyd Wright: Drawing Inspiration from Nature," from September 6 through November 9 at the Garden. The exhibit will feature items that have never been displayed before, including Wright's collection of Japanese artifacts, art glass, photos, drawings, and architectural renderings (pictured here is a rendering of the Robie House from the Wasmuth Portfolio of Wright's Prairie School years). For information call 708-848-1976. For more of the Wright stuff, catch "Frank Lloyd Wright: Designs For An American Landscape, 1922-1932" running through September 14 at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. The show presents more than 100 items from original drawings and recently-created models to computerized reconstructions that allow "virtual" tours through unexecuted projects.
