The Owyhee Plaza Hotel is tearing down its poolside wing and replacing it with an 80-room twin to its four-story, Main Street facade.
The city has approved preliminary plans for the $3.9 million project that will give the hotel a 150-room total and require the hiring of 50 to 60 more employees, raising the hotel work roster to between 160 and 180.
Construction should begin next fall and take six months to complete, according to Larry May, the hotel's owner.
