In the September-October issue, FILM COMMENT inadvertently deleted the last lines of a Howard Hawks phantom production titled When It's Hot Play It Cool. The sequence is reprinted here in full, representing what author Todd McCarthy described as "the most outrageous and explicit manifestation of the homoerotic undercurrent that many critics have detected running through the director's career." Our apologies to Todd, our readers, Hawks, and all Hawksians.
