Bugs Bunny's Megga Easter Party is expected to keep the big attendance numbers rolling in at Warner Bros. Movie World, Oxenford, Queensland, Australia.
"We own Easter," said Mark Germyn, park general manager, of the natural tie-in with the famous bunny. This will be the first such promotion for the three-year-old park. The entire extravaganza, including the park's first parade, is to run April 1-10 and cost about $200,000 ($142,000 U.S.), Germyn said.
It comes on the heels of what has proven a very good season despite "abysmal weather." In February, it rained 17 of 28 days, Germyn said. The first two weeks of March featured one sunny day. So, "it's good news we're doing as well as we're doing."
Australia's summer season is December and January, which includes Christmas holidays and the Chinese New Year Attendance through that period was 15 percent ahead of last year's figure, and attendance overall is running eight percent ahead, Germyn said.
The park drew 1.3 million total attendance in fiscal 1993, which ended Nov. 30.
