Multex To Provide Pay-Per View Research Market research vendor Multex Systems Inc. has created an on-line service that will offer research reports from at least 110 brokerage houses and third parties on a pay-per-view basis. In addition to being accessible through Multex' Web pages, Bloomberg will offer Multex Research On Demand through a hot link on its public Bloomberg Personal Web pages. According to Multex' Jim Tousignant, senior vp, sales and marketing, the reports will be available for purchase after an embargo of fifteen days after the original date of publish.
The service is ostensibly directed at Multex' core client base of corporations and professional users, with pricing starting at a flat fee of $10 for reports of five pages or less, $25 for reports of six to 25 pages, and $75 for reports greater than 25 pages. Contributing brokers are paid royalties by Multex. Targeting individual investors is also a possibility, Tousignant adds. A partial step down that path is the alliance with Bloomberg Personal, the market data giant's public Web site. Under the agreement, Bloomberg receives 25 percent of revenues Research On Demand generates for Multex.
