When Martin Grass was sentenced on June 17, it really had little impact on Rite Aid other than the decision finally brought closure to an accounting scandal that still cast a negative perception over a company that otherwise has a very bright future.
The fact is that when Grass left the retailer four years ago, he never looked back, and no one ever looked to him again. When he left the Harrisburg corporate office, he left behind not only a rich history of the family that founded the company in 1962, but he nearly destroyed what he left behind-an embarrassed and troubled company that was in need of a miraculous turnaround.
