FIRST LOOKS
If multilingual support is what you're after in text-to-speech and speech-recognition-enabled IVR software, you might well eye IBM's (White Plains, NY) WebSphere Voice Server 2.0.
For a price (see below), the software happily listens and talks back to callers in Italian, Spanish, Japanese and simplified Mandarin Chinese, in addition to English, French and German. (How many of your colleagues can do that?) The release also features improved speech quality to produce more human sounding text-to-speech audio.
