Bart Richards is no yahoo, but the president of Thunderstone Software Inc. in Cleveland is experimenting with an Internet indexing tool that looks like one.
On the surface, Mr. Richards' Taxonomy, http://www.taxonomy.com, resembles the highly hyped Yahoo] search engine, which uses key word searches to find sites on the Internet.
Like Yahoo], Taxonomy tries to sort information available on the World Wide Web by categories to put into some sort of context each home page the search engine finds. Yahoo] has noticed the resemblance; its directory lists Taxonomy under the category, "Directories: Yahoo] Inspired."
But unlike Yahoo], Mr. Richards isn't interested in finding every home page on the rapidly expanding Internet for the benefit of every Web surfer.
