Peter Green's The Greco-Persian Wars is a revised edition of his Xerxes at Salamis, originally published in 1970. This work is a narrative account of the two Persian invasions of Greece. Green focuses on describing the major military campaigns and the strategies employed by both sides, with very little discussion of naval or land tactics. His chief aim seems to be one of reconciling the various ancient and modern accounts with his own interpretation of the evidence based in part on observations made during his travels in Greece. Green takes particular issue with modern scholarship for its overall reluctance to use later sources such as Plutarch or Diodorus...
