Is success mellowing Oracle CEO and Internet evangelist Larry Ellison? We don't think so. Recently, he explained why the $500 Internet terminal makes sense as a replacement for desktop PCs. "I don't need an engineering workstation on my desk," he said. Then, mocking critics who object to the Internet terminal's reliance on the network for storage and applications, he added:"At my home we have a cow for milk, because I just don't trust Safeway." Ellison gave his acerbic wit even more free reign when explaining his plans to acquire a T-38 supersonic plane: "Maybe I should fire a few Maverick missiles into {Bill Gates'} living room."
