Hosting a dinner party in your home has a warmth and intimacy that can't be matched by a banquet hall or restaurant dining room. But what if your house doesn't have the room--or the atmosphere--to serve as the backdrop for a special event? Chicago has some distinctive spaces that can be rented for a one-of-a-kind dinner party, places that will wow guests while retaining the personal feel of a private home. One of the newest and most exclusive options is AD1917, a space in Lincoln Park that can be customized for a formal seated dinner or a cocktail party with a DJ. Located in what once was a German grocery store, it is outfitted with private seating nooks that lend themselves to tete-a-tetes. A secluded outdoor dining table and garden allow parties to spill outside in good weather.
