Abstract

The goal of this paper is to analyze gender job earnings, determine the wage gap and discrimination in Mexico and its regions. We apply the Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition to the 2000-2004 National Urban Employment Survey 2000- 2004. We found a gender wage gap in favor of men, and more than 85 percent of these differences are linked to discrimination. Regionally, the gap oscillates between 15 and 25% and the discrimination tends to converge at 20%, however, in the Capital region it converges at 13 por ciento.
