Despite significant growth in the number of city hotel rooms in 2013, the demand for places to stay kept pace and even exceeded expectations. New and expanding hotels added about 7,000 rooms last year, according to estimates from NYC & Company, an 8% increase, bringing the total inventory to 99,000.
New York City has more hotel rooms than ever, yet the occupancy rate climbed to an estimated 88% across the five boroughs thanks to a record 54 million tourists and an improving economy.
