TWO of the Gold Coast's fiercest rivals have joined forces for an ambitious new marketing campaign to turn the city into one of the world's theme park capitals.
Village Roadshow and Ardent Leisure have teamed up, together with the Queensland Government, for a $15 million campaign marketing the Gold Coast as Australia's theme park capital.
Between them, the two entertainment giants run the Gold Coast's five biggest theme parks, as well as a number of smaller-scale tourism operations.
The ambitious plan was hatched by Village Roadshow CEO Graham Burke after a visit to another of the world's premier theme park destinations - Orlando, Florida.
