The University of Kansas issued the following news release:
Twenty-five college and university teachers nationwide have been selected to attend a federally funded three-week institute at the University of Kansas focused on African-American poetry.
The institute, "Don't Deny My Voice: Reading and Teaching African American Poetry" will be July 14-August 3. The institute is part of a 15-month program funded by a National Endowment for the Humanities grant to KU's Project on the History of Black Writing.
Maryemma Graham, University Distinguished Professor of English, directs the institute, a collaboration with the Furious Flower Poetry Center of James Madison University, directed by Joanne Gabbin. KU co-sponsors include the Ermal Garinger Academic...
